Mundelein, Ill. -- Medline Industries, Inc., the nation's largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies announced its sponsorship today of a major public art exhibit called "Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet." The exhibit will open in June in Chicago to generate awareness and promote solutions for global warming.
"We employ more than 2,000 people in Lake County and 5000 worldwide. We feel an enormous responsibility to our employees and to their families. We've seen awareness efforts work here at Medline with our own energy consumption and conservation efforts for the company. Our employees have told us that the changes we've made have inspired them to make changes in their own lives," said Medline President Andy Mills. "Cool Globes is a tremendous opportunity for us to contribute to our community and to our future environment. We want our environment to be safe for our families and we're proud to participate in a program to promote solutions to a very serious global challenge."
As part of its conservation efforts, Medline has introduced GreenTree products, recyclable paper products for the healthcare industry. The company has also made major modifications to the lighting systems to reduce electricity consumption; has invested a significant amount of money in temperature control and weather proofing and recycles hundreds of tons of paper, plastic and waste oil. In addition to these modifications and major sponsorship of Cool Globes, Medline is a corporate participant of www.stopglobalwarming.org.
