The deadline is fast approaching to apply for a portion of up to $1 million in Prevention Above All Discoveries Grants which Medline Industries, Inc. will be awarding to healthcare professionals to research ideas for improving health care. Letters of intent outlining the creative solution or intervention healthcare professions want to develop and test must be submitted by June 30, 2011.
The grants are designed to stimulate the gathering of solid evidence that supports the adoption of solutions into clinical practice. Last year, ten research projects focused on reducing the medical risks and harms associated with hospital-acquired conditions received funding. To date the Prevention Above All Discoveries Grant program has provided over $1.1 million in funding to front-line healthcare workers researching evidence-based solutions.
Healthcare providers interested in submitting letters of intent can apply for one of two funding categories: pilot grants of up to $25,000 for projects that can be completed within six months or empirical study grants of up to $100,000 for projects completed within 12 months. Pilot study grantees, if successful, may qualify for future funding through an empirical study grant.
An Expert Review Board (ERB) composed of members who represent a breadth of research and practice knowledge will independently review each request. Applicants whose proposals are selected will then be assigned an ERB member as a mentor who will work with him/her to develop the letter into a full proposal of 5-7 pages in length, including a complete budget.
Applicants can find detailed information about the Prevention Above All Discoveries Grant program by visiting www.medline.com/paagrants, emailing grantsprogram@medline.com or calling 1-866-941-1998.
